The Simpson men’s basketball team upset Loras at home for senior day Saturday 79-70, while the Storm women gave up 31 third quarter points to fall 87-75 as heard live on 94.3 KNIA. The Storm men did not trail for the entirety of the contest, leading 34-27 at halftime then expanding that lead in the second half as high as 14 in the second half, salting away the game by shooting 30/38 from the free throw line including 10/10 for Jack Hutchinson off the bench. Head coach Brad Bjorkgren tells KNIA Sports the team put together 40 solid minutes of basketball, and sent their seniors off on the right foot.

Hutchinson led four Storm players in double figures with 22, and Simpson is now one of only two teams to hold the Duhawks to 70 points or below this season. Despite the win, the Storm are eliminated in the search for an American Rivers Conference tournament spot due to the Buena Vista victory.

The Storm women outplayed the #22 Duhawks for the first 2.5 quarters, leading by eight points 45-37 with just over six minutes to go in the third, however the Duhawks would explode from there on, outscoring the Storm 50-30 from that point on. Cassie Nash filled up the scoresheet despite the loss, scoring 24 points.

The Storm men are now 9-15 and 3-12 in conference, while the women are 13-11 and 8-7. Both teams go on the road to Storm Lake on Wednesday to take on Buena Vista.
