A Bussey man was arrested on three charges stemming from a domestic incident in Knoxville Sunday night.
At approximately 6:15 pm, 39-year-old Aaron Jans allegedly attempted to take a cell phone out of the hands of a female victim, after she informed him that she was going to call law enforcement. It was reported that Jans then placed his hand on the upper chest of the victim in the form of a push while trying to take the phone during the process. Witnesses also informed law enforcement that they allegedly observed Jans throwing numerous objects at and through windows and doors of the residence at 1555 Quebec St, causing significant damage that was beyond repair. Jans is also accused of entering the residence with a metal pipe and using it to cause serious injuries to a dog.
Jans has been charged with a Class C felony for First Degree Criminal Mischief, a Class D felony for Domestic Abuse 3rd or subsequent offense, and an aggravated misdemeanor for animal torture – first offense.
Jans’ bond is set at $17,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing at 9 am on Thursday, February 22nd.
