The Dutch boys basketball team is able to put together a strong scoring performance on just about any night — and did so again on Monday, but it wasn’t enough in a Class 3A top ten matchup against Waverly-Shell Rock heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

Pella, ranked 10th in the newest IHSAA poll, fell to the #3 Go-Hawks by an 86-72 margin. Despite taking a five point lead in the opening quarter, the explosive offense from Waverly was too much to handle, blazing a path that led to 50 first half points. While the Dutch defense finally slowed down the action and allowed for a 13-10 third quarter in favor of the home team, the Go-Hawks cranked up the pace again in the 4th, and scored 26 more points to pull away.

Pella finished with five scorers in double-figures, led by 18 from Luke Hardman, 16 from Jack McGuire, and 13 from Cameron Rowe. The Dutch fall to 11-9 and wrap up the regular season tonight by hosting Mt. Pleasant. Coverage begins at 6:30 this evening on the KRLS2 stream and the Pella Dutch Live YouTube channel.
