The Indianola School Board discussed the possibility of adding an additional School Resource Officer to the district that would work in tandem with current SRO Jay Hackett. Superintendent Ted Ihns tells KNIA News the city had reached out about exploring the possibility, and he wants to be able to do some more research and have a meeting with Officer Hackett about the position.

“Is there a need and what does it look like? Because currently we’ve also partnered to bring the D.A.R.E. Program back to the elementary schools. So I don’t want to leave them without officers as well, but we also want to make sure it’s a good partnership and if there is a need we’ll absolutely look into it and see if that’s what we want to do.”
