After a stretch of well-above average temperatures lasting for the vast majority of February so far, a brief return to winter is possible overnight. According to the National Weather Service, light snow will move into northwest Iowa by early this evening and will spread into central Iowa overnight. A narrow band of snowfall with accumulations greater than 2 inches is possible with the greatest chance for that occurring located in vicinity of the Highway 20 to Highway 30 corridors. Light snow may linger into Friday morning before ending.
