The PCM boys basketball team closed out a successful season under first year head coach Tony Ford Thursday night.

The Mustangs ended their 2023-2024 season with a loss to Des Moines Christian on Thursday night to end the season with a 10-13 overall record. Ford stepped into the role this season after the retirement of long time legendary coach Fred Lorenson. Ford, an assistant coach in the past and coach for the summer basketball program, stepped into the role wanting to continue the long tradition of success at PCM. Ford’s first group of seniors was especially special to him as his first coaching job at PCM was coaching this year’s seniors in eighth grade. Ford also coached his seniors this year in youth football and says he couldn’t ask for a better group of guys.

“You couldn’t ask for a better group of seniors, and I would even say Gabe Hobbs our manager, he is an absolutely fantastic dude. I’ve known these guys since they’ve been in fourth grade. I coached them in little football and just to see how far they have come but not lose their respect, character, and personalities. A lot of them are faith driven, and I’ve just seen them grow into fantastic people.”

The Mustangs will graduate five senior players including Mark Bussan, Jake Wendt, Easton Webb, Jacob Elrod, Jack Jungling and manager Gabe Hobbs.
