The Knoxville Alumni Association’s Save Our Stadium Committee is rebranding Ken Locke Stadium’s name to “The Locke”.

Save Our Stadium  Co-Chair Pennie Sommar gave a presentation at the Knoxville School Board meeting Thursday night to give an update on the future plans for the high school football stadium. The Knoxville Alumni Association currently is under a five year agreement with the school district, where the district will maintain ownership of the property while the committee raises appropriate funds for the stadium renovation. Future plans for the stadium include a new community center, pickleball courts, resurfaced track, improved seating, paved roads, a new entrance, and ice rink.

The Save Our Stadium committee hopes to use the property in the future for a wide variety of areas including youth football and soccer, elementary track, band competitions, movies, graduations, flea markets, and much more. The committee is now working to continue their fundraising efforts to make their vision a reality. Knoxville Community School District Superintendent Cassi Pearson is pleased with the vision of how they will use the property for community space.

“I think they’ve just got a great vision of how that will be community space utilized by all ages of folks here. Now it’s just all about raising money so we can make that happen.”
