In its final tune-up for the American Rivers Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, the Central College track and field teams both finished in second place at Wartburg College’s Liz Wuertz Invitational Saturday. The Dutch women scored 132 team points and Central’s men put up 82 points.
Emily McMartin ran the 60-meter dash final in a winning time of 7.94 seconds, and also finished third in the 200-meter dash in 25.96 seconds. Olivia Bohlen tied a season-best time of 9.14 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, also securing an individual title. Men’s long jumper Kale Purcell recorded a personal-best distance of 21 feet, 8 inches to win the event, and Noah Jorgenson was the men’s 800-meter run champion in 1:52.91. Other event winners for Central were Megan Johnson in the women’s mile (4:55.39), Caroline McMartin in the women’s 3,000-meter run (9:57.40) and Amber Vroman in the women’s pole vault (11-1.75).
The American Rivers Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships are next Friday and Saturday in Dubuque.
