The Indianola girls basketball team saw their season come to a close Saturday evening as they fell to #5 North Polk 49-20 as heard live on 94.3 KNIA. The Indians had a stellar defensive effort against the Comets that averages nearly 60 points per game and put up 80 in a prior matchup between the two teams. Indianols held the comets to 8 points in the first quarter but only scored two themselves to trail 8-2. The offense never picked up for the Indians, as they trailed 20-8 at halftime, and 35-11 after the third quarter before the benches emptied in the fourth.
Head coach Jeff Janssen said the Indians senior class consisting of Brynn Bishop and Brianne White were some of the hardest workers he has ever coached, and replacing their contributions not just on the court but off the court will be difficult.
The Indians season comes to a close with a record of 6-17.
