While the Iowa Legislative Session has had a focus largely on educational topics for Representative Brooke Boden, she’s highlighting two other pieces of legislation that survived the first major funnel deadline last week.

Boden, who represents all of Warren County and the City of Knoxville, says there is a proposal in the Iowa House to expand the availability of no-contact orders.

“I worked with the county attorney here in Warren County and their victims’ advocate to make sure that we have an open door for anyone who is a victim to get a no-contact order 24 hours a day. Right now, you would need to wait until the next morning or until you can get it to a judge, and a lot of times, that’s when harm could happen.”

Additionally, Boden says she’s been working on a bill to expand the types of custom license plates that could be used by volunteer EMS and fire personnel. Hear more about the ongoing Legislative Session on today’s Let’s Talk Indianola.
