The Marion County Humane Society is in need of volunteers to help serve in various roles..
The humane society, which is the primary animal shelter in Marion County, is home to a large number of cats and dogs looking for a home. The humane society is a no-kill shelter and helps place all of their animals in a loving home by making sure the pet and owner are the right match for each other. The shelter also spays and neuters all animals that are brought in. With the overpopulation of animals at the shelter there is a constant need for volunteers, and Marion County Humane Society President Leslie VanderLinden says there is a wide range of areas where someone can help.
“We need help with laundry, dishes, working with the animals, taking them for a walk, and playing with them. Anyone that can train a little bit and teach them a few tricks would be awesome. Cats like to play and like to get brushed, most of them anyway. We do like to have people come out and play with them, and pet them, that type of thing as well.”
