The Indianola City Council met in regular session Tuesday evening due to the Presidents Day Holiday, with Mayor Stephanie Erickson reading a proclamation declaring February 24, 2024 as Government Communicators Day in Indianola.
The council approved a resolution regarding the regulation of fat, oil and grease discharge by food service establishments, preventing discharge from entering the city storm sewer system.
The council also approved the first consideration of rezoning property located at 2103 E 2nd Avenue from Highway Commercial (C-2) Zoning District to the General Industrial (M-2) Zoning District with condition restricting the businesses to:
Construction Sales and Services
Repair Service – Small Engine
Storage of Equipment/Data/Records/Electronic Data Center/Similar
Warehousing/Wholesaling
The council also approved an amendment to the Elevate Indianola Comprehensive Plan that goes along with the rezoning. The council also went into closed session to discuss the purchase or sale of real estate.
Before the regular session, the council met in a work session where they received an update on the Parks and Open Spaces Master Plan.
