The Pella City Council tabled a motion to approve bids for the proposed Pella Indoor Recreation facility at their meeting Tuesday.
A resolution on the agenda would have set a public hearing to review potential contracts for construction of the project on April 2nd. Following extensive discussion, the council vote split 3-3. City Clerk Mandy Smith clarified that “Because this was a motion, the City Council procedural rules allow the Mayor to break the tie. DeWaard voted AYE, officially tabling resolution no. 6661 until April 2, 2024.”
Council approved the first reading of an ordinance for ATI group to change land from Agricultural to a Planned Unit Development. The council also approved the final plat for the Corridor Business Park and to terminate the Pella West Interchange Urban Renewal Plan.
During policy and planning, council discussed the Fiscal Year 24-25 Budget Process and Maximum Property Tax Notice, the City Hall Annex Renovation project, a request for a solid waste contract extension with Midwest Sanitation, city attorney representation at city council meetings, and a shared leave policy in the personnel policy manual.
