Pella Christian High School’s music department will present a winter music concert tonight.
The concert will feature performances by the concert band, Cantabile, concert choir and chamber choir. The concert will also include an original music piece that was composed by Pella Christian students and Pella native Kaylin Vos. High School Choir Director Aaron Fitzgerald said that what separates this piece from others is that the students had the ability to personalize it.
“You know, it’s relevant to them. They got to select the Scripture reference that the piece is written around and so from that first step they were invested and they were a part of the process, which you can’t say for any other piece that you just go buy somewhere. And then we will be the first group to perform this piece, specifically written for this group and so even when it comes to the voicings, and the ranges, and the difficulty, it was all set in a way that is appropriate for our specific ensemble.”
Pella Christian’s winter music concert tonight will begin at 7:00pm in the Vermeer Auditorium at the high school.
