indianola-8

A message from the Indianola boys basketball coaching staff this season was nothing is guaranteed for the athletes, and with all five of their top scorers returning for next season that message will continue. Head coach Jeff Ebling tells KNIA Sports the young team fought, scratched, and clawed all season long to improve, and that will need to continue because there is going to be a lot of fighting for roles and spots in the rotation in the years to come.

“The progression we have taken from November, even last summer, is outstanding. And now in the future we aren’t taking a step back, we are going to start from that point and continue to get better. Having all these guys experience coming back should make practice time even more enjoyable. It’s going to be competitive, guys all want playing time and there are a lot of guys returning. Doesn’t mean that’s gonna be the same next year, the kids are going to be working their tails off in the offseason and if you played a lot of minutes this year, you better be doing a lot to continue to earn those minutes, because we will have guys pushing each other.”

The Indians season came to a close on Monday evening in the substate quarterfinal round at Des Moines Roosevelt.
