As of noon today, the office of the State Fire Marshal received a request from Marion County Emergency Management on behalf of all fire departments in the county to prohibit open burning from occurring. Upon investigation, the Fire Marshal found conditions favorable to present a danger to life or property, and ordered a burn ban in all of Marion County until Emergency Management deems that conditions are safe. Any violation of the burn ban will result in a simple misdemeanor.
