The Pleasantville Fire Department was assisted by several county agencies as they fought visible flames in a garage on Harrison Lane in Pleasantville just before 9:30 Sunday evening. The 911 caller was inside the home but was able to escape before crews arrived on scene. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Knoxville Fire and Rescue, Knoxville Township Rural Fire, and Melcher-Dallas were all paged to the incident. According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, an initial investigation indicated the fire started in the northeast corner of the garage, but further information will be needed to determine the cause. Pleasantville Assistant Fire Chief Mark Clifton said that quick action prevented the fire from becoming worse.

“Our Pleasantville fire crew did an excellent initial knock down from the exterior, and then we made entry to the garage and kept all of the fire and smoke damage to the garage, so no smoke or fire damage to the house itself. So, I just want to thank everybody for their quick action.”
