The Indianola Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony for La Tiendita Mexican Store Monday afternoon, welcoming the new business to the community. Owner Alondra Valdivia tells KNIA News it was a big step to open the convenience store, which offers food, snacks, and other items, but they have received a lot of support from the community so far.

“We’ve been here for about six years, and it was an investment, and it was a risky one because the hispanic population here isn’t that big. But we’ve had a supportive community, so it’s been quite an adventure.”

The store is in the former Medicap Pharmacy building, located at 208 E Euclid Ave in Indianola.
