Troy Pearson has resigned as Knoxville Boys Basketball Coach. At Monday night’s school board meeting the board accepted his resignation after three years at the helm. Pearson was informed that his contract as Facilities Director of Knoxville Schools would not be renewed. Pearson guided the Panthers to a 14-8 record this past season and tied for 2nd place in the South Central Conference with an 11-3 mark. After his last game at Knoxville, which was the first round of the class 3A Substate last Monday Pearson told KNIA/KRLS Sports his team was in every game and liked how resilient his team was.
Pearson: “That’s good that we’re moving in the right direction. We weren’t blown out in any game this season. We may have fallen behind Pella by 18 but we cut it to ten. These kids are a resilient bunch.”
In Pearson’s three seasons he compiled a record of 30-35. The search for a new coach will begin immediately.
