The Iowa Legislature recently passed a bill that was signed by Governor Kim Reynolds regarding foreign land ownership in the state, that requires foreign entities include their legal name, address, nationality, authority to purchase agricultural land, a statement of purpose for conducting business in the state, their interest in owning the land, and more.
State Senator Julian Garrett tells KNIA News he is in favor of the bill due to recent issues with individuals or corporations of other countries buying up land in the United States, and he wants to prevent the driving up of prices and make the process more transparent so people know who they are selling their land to and why.
