A Knoxville man was arrested Tuesday on two felony drug charges.

According to court records, at approximately 11:27 am Tuesday, Knoxville police officers approached 25-year-old Brady Laird at the Knoxville 66 gas station due to knowledge of an outstanding warrant. Laird allegedly fled on foot and was apprehended after a brief foot chase, in which the officer suffered a minor injury to his elbow. Upon Laird’s arrest, next to where he was apprehended, the officer discovered a bag containing a large quantity of a crystalline substance. That substance later tested positive for methamphetamine and had a weight of 28.9 grams. The officer noted that this quantity of methamphetamine is indicative of the sale and distribution of the substance.

Laird was transported to the Marion County Jail, where he faces a Class B felony controlled substance violation, failure to affix a drug stamp, a Class D felony, and interference with official acts causing bodily injury, a serious misdemeanor. Laird is being held on a $31,000 bond and is due in court on March 7th for a preliminary hearing.
