An Albia man was arrested for an alleged sexual abuse incident in Knoxville.

According to court records, just before 10:30 am on February 21st a victim reported a sexual assault that occurred on December 31st, 2023 at the Red Carpet Inn motel in Knoxville. The victim stated that she was sexually assaulted by the defendant, Drew William Smith of Albia. The victim gave a detailed statement about the alleged assault, provided photographs of the injuries she sustained during the assault, and screenshots of messages between her and the defendant before and after the alleged assault. 

Smith has been charged with 3rd Degree Sexual Abuse, a Class C felony, and is being held in the Marion County Jail.
