A new display at the Knoxville Public Library features art from local artist Larry Scott.

The display features a variety of pottery, paintings, and photography, which are the areas that Scott specializes in. The display is available for anyone to come view during normal library hours. Scott was a long time art teacher for the Knoxville Community School District and he says he’s learned to show his own work instead of his students.

“Predominantly, I showed student work. I didn’t think my work was very important. I was a teacher and didn’t think of myself as an artist. I showed my students’ work a lot. My students got used to going out and competing, and having their work displayed, and they got used to it. Now that I’m not teaching anymore, I all of a sudden feel a little bit more free to show my own work.”
