Another Knoxville athlete will play football at the NCAA Division III level in the American Rivers Conference, this time Jack Bertrand will take his talents to Waverly and play for the Wartburg Knights starting next fall. Bertrand played on the offensive and defensive lines for the Panthers. He recorded 12 tackles for Knoxville in 2023, four of those for loss. Bertrand tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he liked the culture of not only the Knights’ program, but the overall experience of the town of Waverly.
Bertrand: “Honestly just the community and the way it is in Waverly and then getting to know the coaches more and I can be a part of this program and community for the next four years.”
Bertrand played injured for most of his senior season as he suffered a shoulder injury in week one. He underwent surgery and missed all of the basketball season, but adds he is fully recovered and is excited to play on the defensive side of the ball at Wartburg.
