The Norwalk School Board discussed and reviewed the 2024-2025 master calendar at their regular meeting on Monday.
No changes have been made to the proposed calendar for next year, but additional language has been added to the calendar to accommodate potential snow days. Norwalk Superintendent Shawn Holloway says that adding that language to the calendar will help the district be proactive in making up snow days.
“What I’ve proposed is kind of an every other snow day where, on day one it’d look traditional like a snow day, but then the second snow day we have would be a virtual workday for staff. And then come the end of the year, we would have about half the snow days to make up, to where the board can forgive those days if we’re above the state minimum or they added on to the end of the school year.”
A public hearing regarding the calendar will be held on March 25th and the board of directors will vote on the topic that evening. Hear more from Shawn Holloway on today’s In Touch with South Central Iowa.
