Open burn bans continue in the region as extremely dry conditions remain in place throughout the area. According to the State Fire Marshal’s office, Marion, Warren, Clarke, Jasper, Mahaska, Monroe, and Polk counties all have burn bans in place until further notice. Madison and Lucas counties are the lone surrounding communities that remain under normal burning ordinances and laws at this time. Any violation of the burn ban will result in a simple misdemeanor.
