tc-sabers

It was a rough ending for the Twin Cedars Boys Basketball Squad as the Sabers lost their last four games. In three of those games the Sabers played teams that either were ranked or in a bigger class. One reason for the late season slide was that the Sabers were bitten by the injury bug as the Sabers had two of the top players out. Coach Mateo Varese adds Mother Nature gave everyone, including his team a huge curveball with two major snowstorms in January.

Varese: “When things were clicking and working in our favor we had a good season it was fun. Then when we lost games and practices to the snow, then we had 2 of our players go down with illness, it made it tough.”

The Sabers finished 6-12 with a largely young team. Varese adds being young will not be an excuse next season as the expectation is to contend in the Bluegrass Conference and win several non-conference games.
