Multiple local boys basketball players have been recognized by the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association as part of the All-Substate Teams in their respective classes.
In Class 2A, Pella Christian’s Dane Geetings and Tysen De Vries were selected to the All-Substate 5 team, while Pleasantville’s Dayson Leerhoff and Braylon Bingham were members of the All-Substate 7 team. In the Eagles’ three postseason games, Geetings averaged 24 points and 4.3 assists per game, while De Vries averaged 11 points and six assists. Leerhoff recorded 22.7 points and 11.3 rebounds per game in the Trojans three substate contests, while Bingham averaged 16 points and 7.6 rebounds.
Pella’s Jack McGuire and Luke Hardman and Landen Norris of Knoxville were honored on the Class 3A All-Substate 7 team, and Pella head coach Derek Schulte was voted as the substate’s coach of the year. In their three game run to the State Tournament, McGuire averaged 13.7 points and 8 rebounds per game for the Dutch, while Hardman averaged 9.7 points and six rebounds. In Knoxville’s only contest this postseason, Norris dropped 29 points and 11 rebounds against Newton.
Also recognized by the IBCA was Norwalk’s Redek Born, who was selected to the Class 4A All-Substate 2 team. In the Warriors three postseason games, Born posted a statline average of 25.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5 assists per game.
