Pella High School has hired its next leader of the volleyball program, and someone close to home is making the switch to green and white.
Joel Allman is joining the district as an at-risk teacher and the head coach of the fall sports team. Allman, who also currently serves as the activities director in Pleasantville, led the Trojans to their best-ever season in 2023, winning 27 games to place 4th in the West Central Conference.
Sam Sheldon submitted her resignation from the school district earlier this year, leaving the program and her teaching post after one season in her first head coaching position. Pella finished 21-20 in 2023 and said farewell to four seniors.
