The filing deadline for the 2024 primary election is Friday, March 22nd, and five candidates have currently filed paperwork for Marion County offices. 

This year ,the positions that will be voted upon locally will be two board of supervisors seats, county auditor, county sheriff, and filling an open vacancy for county attorney, and all of these positions require 75 total signatures. According to Marion County Auditor Jake Grandia, five individuals have filed their candidate paperwork as of 10:00 am on Tuesday, including  James Mueller and Steve McCombs for Board of Supervisors, Grandia for County Auditor, Jared Harmon for County Attorney, and Jason Sandholdt for County Sheriff. All five who have filed paperwork are running as Republicans and Marion County Deputy Auditor Dani Graves wants to remind voters that party affiliation matters when it comes to primary elections.

“Only voters who are registered with the Democratic, Libertarian, or Republican parties, or people who declare their affiliation with a party when casting a ballot are allowed to vote in a primary election.”

The date for the 2024 Primary Election is June 4th.
