Knoxville resident Mae Galvin is celebrating her 105th birthday today.
Galvin is a current resident of Westridge Specialty Care, and started living at the specialty care facility in October. Before that time, Galvin was living by herself, even at 104 years old. Galvin moved to Knoxville when she was in 6th grade and has a brother who is still living at 93 years old. Galvin worked for 25 years in a variety store and her husband was in the service. Galvin says she stays busy now by working on puzzles and she is enjoying life. She tells staff at Westridge that she hopes to live to be 110 years old. Galvin says that she has always tried to enjoy each day and she says everyone should try and live life to the fullest.
“I just have lived from day to day and always have done what there is to do.”
Westridge will be celebrating Mae’s birthday today with a party featuring 105 cupcakes.
