Looking to build on last season’s success, the Pella Christian girls track and field team will feature their largest roster since head coach Keith Anderson took over the program in 2012.
The Eagles have 26 girls out for track and field this spring, which surpasses the previous high mark in Anderson’s tenure of 18 girls. With additional girls out for the sport this year, Pella Christian is hoping to build upon last season’s fifth place tie in Class 2A at the State Meet. While some big contributors to last year’s success graduated, Anderson says that he believes the team could finish even higher on the podium at the State Meet in May.
“I really feel like we’ve got some great returners and some new faces to the team this year that I think we’re going to be able to plug into some of those relays that we lost a senior in. But a top five finish at State last year, and I think it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibilities to improve upon that this year if everybody stays healthy, maybe get a few more events to State and maybe improve upon some of those events that we got there last year and maybe move up a little bit higher on the podium.”
The Pella Christian girls track and field team begins the 2024 season at Davis County on Tuesday, March 26th.
