Preparations are underway for the Knoxville Street Improvements Project.
Utility companies are beginning the work of relocating their infrastructure, and the work that has been started this week has been the moving of gas lines. This year’s project areas include Main Street between 1st and 2nd and between 3rd and 5th, and Robinson Street between 4th and 7th.
The project areas along Main Street will include concrete removal and full infrastructure replacement, and the overall design will match the downtown streetscape once completed. A preconstruction meeting will be held between the general contractor and staff in the upcoming week, and after that meeting more information will be provided in regards to the project timeline.
This will be a substantial project that will be underway for a majority of the 2024 construction season. The city asks that the public be patient as construction season begins, and anyone is encouraged to reach out to the city with any questions.
