A sensational nine-strikeout outing earned Central College sophomore Max Steinlage the American Rivers Conference Male Athlete and Baseball Pitcher of the Week honors.

Starting on Monday against Mount St. Joseph University (Ohio), Steinlage struck out nine batters over six scoreless innings of work. Despite allowing five walks, Steinlage held the Lions in check by scattering three hits while facing 26 batters. It was the sophomore’s first career weekly accolade from the conference.

Steinlage and the Dutch open their home schedule Saturday with a doubleheader against Hamline University (Minn.) starting at 1 pm, and the twinbill can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
