With a forecasted high of 61 degrees, the Norwalk track and field teams open their outdoor season today at the Simpson College High School Classic. The 4:00 p.m. meet will be held at Buxton Stadium in Indianola.

Schools scheduled to compete with both a girls and boys team include Carlisle, Greene County, Indianola, Norwalk and West Des Moines Valley. The Harlan boys, North Polk boys and Knoxville girls are also scheduled to attend.

Mild temperatures and dry conditions will allow the Simpson meet to be held for the first time in several years. Poor weather and COVID-19 have previously forced cancellations. High temperatures are expected to remain in the 40s for the remainder of the week.
