With nicer than usual weather conditions occurring earlier this year, the Pella Christian track and field teams have been utilizing the opportunity to get more practice time outdoors.
The Eagles started practices on February 20th and a majority of them have been held at PC Stadium, rather than inside the school. Senior Amelia Boender and Pella Christian head coach Keith Anderson say that getting to be outside this early in the season has been beneficial for the team.
Boender: “It’s been really nice, we’ve been able to be more outside this first couple of weeks rather than in the gym or in the hallways and stuff. So it’s been really helpful to practice where we’re gonna be running.”
Anderson: “It really makes a difference when you can get out on the track and you can do some work, maybe on the turf, it just keeps us off of these hard floors on the inside of the school where we’re sometimes forced to practice in the early weeks. But I love where we’re at and where we’re heading.”
The Eagles track and field teams open their seasons on Tuesday, with the boys hosting their Early Bird meet and the girls running at the Davis County meet.
