The Norwalk High School tennis teams will open the 2024 season on Thursday, March 28, with non-conference duals. The Warrior girls host North Polk and the boys travel to Boone.
Both teams are looking to build off successful seasons last spring. The girls finished with a 12-1 dual record, including a 7-0 mark in Little Hawkeye Conference play. They took an unbeaten record into the Class 2A Regional Team finals before losing 5-0 to West Des Moines Valley.
The Norwalk boys went 7-4 overall in duals and lost a tough 5-4 decision against Des Moines Roosevelt in the first round of Team Substate. The Warriors placed second at the Little Hawkeye Conference Tournament and fourth at their District Tournament.
The Norwalk girls return five of their top 10 players from last year in seniors Anya Kallenbach, Katie Larson, Grace Dehmer, Tessa Livingston and Sutton McNelly. Returning singles players for the Warrior boys include senior Adrian Bush and juniors Braylon Stockwell and Tyler Stiegelmeier. The boys team also has a new coach in Nicole Berger.
