Making their home debut today, the Central College baseball team hosts Hamline University for a non-conference doubleheader to kick off a three-game set.

The Dutch enter the twinbill with a 4-9 record, following a 2-5 week in Florida from March 10th-15th. The Pipers enter the games with a 7-9 overall mark, after they also went 2-5 from March 10th-16th in Florida. Among their 16 games this season, six of Hamline’s games have come in a pair of three-game sets against American Rivers Conference opponents Buena Vista and Simpson. The Pipers went 1-2 in each of those series, but averaged six and a half runs in those games. Central head coach Adam Carey says that Hamline will provide a great test ahead of conference play and says that the key to the series will be execution.

“I think it just comes down to our guys competing the way that they know how to compete, attacking with the gameplan that we have, and trusting that the work that they’ve done from August until now is gonna provide them the best opportunity to compete as well as we can.”

The doubleheader between the Dutch and Pipers begins at 1 pm today and can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
