The Pella Christian boys golf team begins their pursuit of a second-straight appearance at the State Golf Tournament on Friday.
The Eagles return a large majority of last year’s varsity roster, which led the school to their second-ever State appearance. As the squad prepares for a variety of different courses on their journey back to Ames this spring, Pella Christian head coach Kent Breems says that their home course is giving the team a chance to work on different skills needed throughout the season.
“One thing that stands out to me every year is our home course is Bos Landen, which is a very difficult and trying course. Not a lot of high school teams play on a course that’s as difficult as Bos is, so having the opportunity to practice every day and to play on that course, I think is a good opportunity for us to learn, to learn the game of golf, to learn how to manage a golf course. So, that definitely helps prepare us for other courses that we’re going to play at during the course of the season.”
The Eagles will look to defend their title at the Saydel Boys Golf Invitational when they open the season on Friday.
