Marion County has released a list of important information and dates for residents looking into dust control this year.

Dust control is applied twice a year in the county, with the first application taking place on May 1st and the second application happening on July 15th. To apply for dust control, residents need to contact one of the three county approved vendors, which include Binns & Stevens Sprayers in Oskaloosa, Smith Fertilizer & Grain in Knoxville, or Heffron Services in Urbandale. The deadline for the first application is April 15th, and the deadline for the second application is June 15th. No late applications will be accepted. Flags can be picked up at any county shop or at the Marion County Engineer’s Office, and must be put up by April 15th. Flags must be maintained by customers until October 1st. Roads will be prepped for dust control prior to each application and Marion County reserves the right to maintain the road within a dust control area should there be an issue that is a safety concern for the traveling public.

Dust control season ends October 1st and regular maintenance will resume.
