Competing in the NCAA Division I CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament, Pella Christian alum and current Purdue Fort Wayne big man Eric Mulder used late game heroics to send the Mastodons to the tournament championship game.
Playing in Stephenville, Texas against Tarleton State in the semifinals Monday night, Mulder and Purdue Fort Wayne found themselves trailing 72-71 with 30 seconds left. On the Mastodons final possession, a cutting teammate found Mulder underneath the basket, who laid in the game-winning score with 15 seconds left to propel Purdue Fort Wayne to Wednesday night’s championship game. The game winner also gave the Mastodon sophomore a double-double on the night, as the bucket gave Mulder 10 points to go along with his career-high 15 rebounds.
The former Eagle’s heroics extended beyond just the semifinal game. In the quarterfinal match against Bowling Green last Wednesday, Mulder also made a game-winning layup with 15 seconds left to advance Purdue Fort Wayne to Monday’s semifinal.
Eric and the Mastodons are now off to Norfolk, Virginia, where they will square off with Norfolk State in the CIT Tournament Championship Wednesday night at 7 pm.
