Four Knoxville squads are in action tonight marking this the first busy night of spring sports for Panther teams. The boys tennis squad will travel to state power North Polk. Second Year Coach Kevin Wade tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he wants his guys to compete tonight. Girls track will head to Clarke for the DeWitt Relays. This will be the Panthers first full team outdoor event. Knoxville was 5th overall at its last meet, the Simpson College Outdoor Meet, placing 5th overall. In that meet, Ciara Heffron uncorked a new school record discus throw of 141 feet three inches to win the event, she also took gold in the shot put. Both soccer squads are looking to get back to .500 after losing their openers on Monday. The boys will travel to Carlisle while the girls will host the Wildcats. The Panthers lost to Indianola on Monday 8-1 as Janae Baker scored Knoxville’s only goal while Ella Breazeale had 25 saves. The match is set to begin at 5:30 at Randy Wilson Track. The boys are also coming off a season opening setback to Southeast Polk. Panthers Coach Dylan Mick is excited about this season’s team and how much they can accomplish.

Mick: “Of the 24 guys that dressed against the #4 team in the sub state finals, we’re bringing back 22 of them, so we had a lot of sophomores and juniors against a team of seniors in a go to state game that give us a lot of hope moving forward.”

Junior varsity is set to begin at 5:30 with the varsity around 7:00 at Carlisle’s Sports Complex.
