Local unemployment rates decreased in the month of February, according to the latest update from the Iowa Workforce Development. The unemployment rate in Marion County dropped from 2.7% in January to 2.5% last month. There are 18,900 residents employed and 490 seeking work and receiving benefits. The rate also went down in Warren County, going from 3.3% in January to 3% in February. There are 28,600 residents employed and 900 people seeking work and receiving benefits. Statewide, the unemployment rate in Iowa saw a slight decline from 3% in January to 2.9% last month, and that number is the same as it was in February 2023.
