Multiple Indianola spring sports teams were in action Thursday, including boys and girls soccer and boys and girls track and field.
Indianola Boys Soccer Falls to Lewis Central in Penalty Kicks
The Indianola boys soccer team fell on the road in heartbreaking fashion in their season opener against Lewis Central, 2-1 in the 7th round of penalty kicks. Jacob Chickering scored the lone Indians goal in regulation. The Indians are now 0-1 to start the season, and next play at Southeast Polk tonight.
Indianola Girls Soccer Falls to Southeast Polk
The Indianola girls soccer team fell to Southeast Polk 6-1. Remy Sivertsen added to her impressive goal total on the season with the Indians lone goal, with an assist from Isabelle Crookes. The Indians are now 1-1, and play their third match of the week tonight hosting Nevada.
Indianola Girls Track Dominates, Boys See Multiple Top Finishes at Waukee Northwest
The Indianola girls track and field team dominated the field at the Waukee Northwest Early Bird Invitational, earning eight first place finishes. Earning gold included Josie McGraw in the 100m Hurdles, Emma White in the 400m, Hadley Erickson in the 800m, Abbie Kluver in the Discus, Madi Grover in the High Jump, Jordyn Brown in the 1500m, and the Sprint Medley Relay Team.
The Indianola boys were competing in the same meet, with several throwers standing out. Owen Cambron took home a first place finish in the Discus, while Lathan McDaniel won the Shot Put. The 4x200m Relay Team placed 2nd, as did Graham Hilton in the Long Jump. The boys next compete Monday at Boone, while the girls head right back to Waukee Northwest on Tuesday.
