This week is Severe Weather Awareness Week, a week highlighted each year as a reminder to prepare and stay informed about the unpredictable forces of nature. Today focuses on flood safety.
Warren County Emergency Management Coordinator Troy Bass tells KNIA News if there is a danger of a flood near your residence you should:
-Fill bathtubs, sinks and jugs with clean water in case water becomes contaminated
-Bring outdoor belongings, such as patio furniture, indoors
-Move valuable household possessions to the upper floors or to safe ground if time permits
-If you are instructed to do so by the local authorities, turn off all utilities at the main switch and close the main gas valve
-Be prepared to evacuate
