A fire at the National Balloon Museum Friday morning caused significant smoke damage, and has delayed their grand reopening indefinitely. National Balloon Museum Board President Eric Martens said the museum was set to reopen on April 6th, however until the damage is assessed it will be delayed.

The Indianola Fire Department responded to the call early Friday morning, and Fire Captain Thad White tells KNIA News the building sustained fire damage in the front lobby area where the fire was mostly contained, however the building sustained smoke damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
