Pella Regional Health Center announced that Molly Engelhart in Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine is the recipient of their quarterly DAISY Award. The DAISY program is a national award, given at the local level, to registered nurses who exemplify extraordinary nursing. The focus is on the special touches and human consideration these nurses give to their patients.

Excerpt from Molly’s nomination by Marvin Van Der Wiel:

“On behalf of my aunt, I would like to nominate Molly for the DAISY Award. Mae met Molly after she suffered a wound to her lower leg. Mae had a sizable wound to her leg that was causing her an extensive amount of pain. From the first time they met, Mae had total confidence in Molly and the ability of the staff in Wound Care to address her problem.  It was not just Molly’s medical knowledge and care that had such an impact on Mae, it was her bedside manner that left the biggest impression. Mae always felt that she was the most important patient that Molly was going to see that day.”

Engelhart received a certificate that reads: “In deep appreciation of all you do, who you are, and the incredibly meaningful difference you make in the lives of so many people.” She was also given a sculpture called A Healer’s Touch, hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Africa.
