The City of Knoxville is in the early stages of potentially bringing in another Kading housing development.

At Tuesday’s Marion County Board of Supervisors meeting, the board approved annexation of county land into the City of Knoxville to use for this potential new development. The location would be just northeast of the current Kading development that just finished up last year. On April 29th, the City will hold a special council meeting for a public hearing and potential approval of the annexation.

According to Knoxville City Manager Heather Ussery, the annexation is one item within the list of things needing approval for the Kading development. Other items include a development agreement, concept plan approval, and rezoning. These are all set to move forward during the months of April and May so Kading can apply for a Workforce Housing Tax Credit application through Iowa Economic Development Authority at the end of May.

The current Kading development in Knoxville consists of 155 homes. A new development would be a continuation of an effort by the city to address the current rental housing shortage in Knoxville.
