Marion County Public Health held their monthly providers meeting on Monday.

The meeting provides healthcare and community organizations an opportunity to inform the public of updates within their respective organizations. There is also a presenter at each meeting and on Monday, Marion County Veterans Affairs Director Rob Banstra spoke about how veterans in Marion County can get the best possible access to information regarding their benefits. Bandstra recently stepped into this role and spoke at the meeting about how available he wants to make his department to those who served. Del Bennett with Marion County Public Health says the State of Iowa has one of these directors in all 99 counties.

“I think it’s huge. I think it is a kudos to Iowa that we have at least a part time Veterans Affairs Service Officer in each of our counties. We have 99, and the State of Missouri has 37.”

The Marion County providers meeting is held on the first Monday of every month.
