The Norwalk girls golfers opened the season by placing second out of five teams in Monday’s Waukee Northwest Invitational. The tournament was held in cold and misty conditions at The Legacy Golf Club in Norwalk.
Waukee Northwest won the team title with a score of 341 and the Warriors placed second with a 393, finishing ahead of Ankeny (409), Waukee (413) and Dallas Center-Grimes (436).
Norwalk sophomore Addie Smith placed seventh individually with an 18-hole score of 91 and freshman teammate Evelyn Kinney was 11th with a 98. Allie Soukup, Mariola Torro Abad and Ava Garvey each added rounds of 102 for the Warriors.
Norwalk is scheduled to compete in a four-team quad at Perry today at 4:00 p.m., taking on Ballard, Bondurant-Farrar and the host Jayettes. Weather permitting, all seven Warrior spring sports squads are slated for competition.
